Care & Shelter

A Home for the Vulnerable

The Daughters of the Cross, inspired by Christ’s compassionate heart and the legacy of Blessed Marie Thérèse, are dedicated to caring for society’s most vulnerable and voiceless members. With unwavering commitment, the Sisters operate 50 boarding houses and hostels across the country, creating secure and nurturing environments where individuals in crisis or at risk can find shelter, healing, and hope.

These facilities serve a diverse and highly vulnerable group of residents. Among them are children in need of protection, orphans, abandoned youngsters, and those rescued from neglectful and harsh environments. The Sisters provide more than just food and shelter; they also offer emotional support, education, and a sense of belonging. This enables these children to rediscover their self-worth and potential.

The residences also serve as a vital support system for tribal females who face systemic barriers to education and development. Many of these individuals come from remote areas with limited access to formal education and safe living conditions. By offering a secure environment for these young girls to live and learn, the Sisters empower them to pursue their education, break the cycle of poverty, and create a brighter, more self-sufficient future.

A vital aspect of the congregation’s care ministry is providing refuge for juvenile girls who have been trafficked. These young survivors of exploitation and abuse are welcomed into a trusting and compassionate environment, where they receive psychiatric counseling, medical care, life skills training, and, most importantly, the unconditional love and support they need to begin their healing process.

Unwed mothers, often marginalized by society and lacking support, find comfort and dignity through the care provided by the Sisters. These women receive housing, as well as pregnancy and postnatal care, along with assistance that helps them rebuild their lives with strength and grace. By addressing their emotional, spiritual, and practical needs, the congregation affirms their worth and dignity, offering them a renewed sense of purpose and hope.

The Daughters of the Cross boarding facilities and hostels are sources of compassion, offering not only shelter but also personal care, faith-based support, and tools for transformation. Residents are encouraged to engage in community activities, pursue spiritual growth, and take part in educational and skill-building programs designed to help them regain confidence and prepare for reintegration into society.

This ministry reflects the congregation’s enduring commitment to supporting marginalized individuals, walking alongside the wounded, and restoring dignity to those who are neglected. The Daughters of the Cross continue to fulfill their mission through these homes of compassion, serving as Christ’s healing presence in a world that longs for justice, mercy, and love.

Childcare Services: Embracing Life with Love:

The Daughters of the Cross operate specialized childcare services, focusing on caring for abandoned babies as part of their broader shelter mission. These infants, often left in dangerous situations or without guardians, are welcomed into a nurturing home where their needs are met with compassion and grace. Each baby is considered a precious gift of life and is treated with tenderness, love, and medical care.

To provide these children with secure and permanent homes, the congregation operates adoption services officially accredited by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). These services are managed with honesty, compassion, and a strong sense of accountability. The Sisters ensure that each child is matched with a family that can offer not only love and protection but also the moral and emotional support they need. They guide prospective parents and children throughout the adoption process, adhering to the highest ethical standards.

The Daughters of the Cross dedicate themselves to living out the Gospel through their dual mission of providing refuge and childcare. Each home, cradle, and act of care reflects their unwavering commitment to preserving life, restoring dignity, and offering hope where it is needed most. In a world marked by abandonment and injustice, their presence affirms a powerful truth: no one is forgotten in the eyes of God.
