The 25th of May, 2025, marked a historic milestone for the Associates of the Daughters of the Cross, Calcutta Province—the joyous celebration of their Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Associates!
St Joseph’s Convent, Matigara hosted the grand event that united 130 associates and animators from 11 units across North Bengal, the hills, Terai, and Nepal. Despite the diversity of languages—Hindi, Nepali, English, Santali, and Bengali—the spirit of unity and shared mission shone brightly.
The day began with a warm traditional welcome and was filled with vibrant performances, soul-stirring prayers, and uplifting talks. Fr. Peter Pappu S.J. delivered a powerful keynote, urging everyone to be “Pilgrims of Hope,” living the compassionate love of the crucified Christ.
Sr. Shanti introduced new guidelines for associates, and Sr. Catherine, the Provincial, released the commemorative souvenir with a message of encouragement. Eight associates shared moving testimonies of transformation through their journey as Associates of the Daughters of the Cross.

The celebration culminated in a solemn Holy Mass presided by Bishop Paul Simmick, followed by cultural programs, a vote of thanks followed by high tea.
This Jubilee was more than a celebration—it was a renewal of purpose, unity, and mission. A reminder that through faith and service, ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
