“A commemorative image marking 75 years (1833–1908) of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross, highlighting their global presence and the diverse apostolic missions undertaken by the Sisters across various countries.”
With hearts full of gratitude, the Daughters of the Cross of Liège celebrated 75 years of the remarkable journey of a Congregation born from deep faith and unwavering compassion. Since our humble beginnings in 1833, the Sisters have carried the Cross not as a burden, but as a symbol of redemptive love, healing, and service.
Over the course of these 75 years, the light of our Charism—reaching out to the poorest, the weakest, and the most suffering—has shone far beyond the borders of our birthplace in Liège. From the heart of Europe to distant corners of the world, the Sisters brought not only education and healthcare, but also hope, dignity, and deep, abiding love.
The pioneering apostolates have included caring for the sick, educating the young—especially girls—sheltering orphans, and standing alongside those society often forgot. Always close to the marginalized, the Sisters became a visible sign of God’s tender mercy in an often indifferent world.
This milestone is more than a celebration of years; it is a celebration of faith lived boldly, compassion poured out generously, and love made visible through action. The flame lit in 1833 continues to burn brightly, reminding us that one heart, wholly given to God, can transform the world.
